New 30th anniversary radio-controlled movement with “Luna Program”*1 the world’s first* fully automatic analog moon phase radio-controlled watches with light-powered Eco-Drive*2
CITIZEN Watch will launch three new radio-controlled Eco-Drive models featuring “Luna Program” - the world’s first fully automatic analog moon phase function for light-powered watches - from the CITIZEN ATTESA line of watches incorporating the latest technologies.

In 2023, CITIZEN is celebrating 30 years since the launch of the world’s first multi-band radio-controlled watch with a newly-developed radio-controlled movement.
The new models feature “Luna Program”, making them the world’s first light-powered Eco-Drive watches with a fully automatic analog moon phase function. This model uses a unique mathematical formula to calculate the moon phase for each day based on date signals received from radio transmitters. The moon phase is then automatically displayed on the dial in the moon phase window at the six o’clock position. The new watches also have a North-South Shift function that makes it possible to switch the moon phase display to match the view from the Northern or Southern Hemisphere. The moon phase window displays a beautiful silvery moon floating in a sea of stars. The sporty look of the case is accentuated by the elegant taper of the lugs. City names have been eliminated from the inner ring to create a clean, uncluttered layout that ensures superior readability of the multiple hands on the dial.

*1 A fully automatic analog moon phase function. Calculates the moon phase for each day based on date information from the watch's perpetual calendar to automatically display the current moon phase on the dial.
*2 Eco-Drive is CITIZEN’s proprietary technology that powers watches using any natural or artificial light source, eliminating the need to replace batteries. Certified as an Eco Mark product for the first time in the watch industry. Radio-controlled watches receive signals from radio transmitters to correct the time and calendar automatically
*3 Super Titanium™ is CITIZEN’s proprietary technology to treat solid titanium with surface hardening technology. It is at least 5 times harder than stainless steel, resistant to scratches, lightweight and gentle to the skin for comfortable wearing.
*4 Duratect is CITIZEN’s proprietary surface hardening technology that enhances the surface hardness of metals such as stainless steel and titanium, protecting watch bodies from scratches and damage. This technology offers excellent abrasion quality and maintains lustre of metals for long periods of time. Duratect DLC achieves Vickers hardness of 1,000-1,400 by coating an amorphous carbon hard film—mainly composed of carbon and hydrogen—on the surface of the material. Duratect Titanium Carbide achieves Vickers hardness of 1,000-1,200 Hv. Duratect Pink is a pink-gold colored version of Duratect containing real gold. Gold is an extremely soft metal with Vickers hardness of approx. 20-70 Hv. Duratect technology boosts the Vickers hardness of gold to 1,100-1,500 Hv. It produces a beautiful sparkling finish with an attractive sheen. (Vickers hardness of stainless steel is approx. 200 Hv.)
