Two new Satellite Wave X models are being released a decade after the launch of the groundbreaking Satellite Wave F100 in 2014. The X in the name of the new models is the Roman numeral X, celebrating 10 years since the launch of the previous model. The Satellite Wave F100 was developed as a watch that could receive time signals from satellites in orbit. The new Satellite Wave X models carry on the same distinctive design of their predecessor while offering a polished new look and more intuitive controls. The unique triangular surfaces on all four corners of the case create a stylish, streamlined design inspired by satellites in space. The ridges and mirrored surfaces reflect light and provide a sense of speed, hinting at the watch’s ability to rapidly receive satellite signals. The dial and the case are cast in one piece to create eye-catching three-dimensional steps that encircle the dial in a clockwise direction, starting at the 12 o’clock position. The glittering accents and inkjet printing on the dial bring to mind the vastness of outer space, creating a dynamic depiction of stars sparkling in the night sky. The facets of the indices are finished with fine lines reminiscent of the grooves on vinyl records (created using a metal spinning process). The lume on each index provides superior readability in low-light conditions and, just like the 2014 model, the shape of the bracelet links was inspired by solar panels on satellites. These new models can receive time signals in as little as 3 seconds – the fastest GPS satellite signal reception in the world*1. Even without signal reception, they maintain high monthly accuracy of ± 5 seconds.

*1 Fastest satellite signal reception in the world for an analog light-powered GPS satellite wave watch. Figure from CITIZEN’s in-house research, as of September 2023.
*2 Super Titanium™ is CITIZEN’s proprietary technology to treat solid titanium with surface hardening technology. It is at least 5 times harder than stainless steel, resistant to scratches, lightweight and gentle to the skin for comfortable wearing.
*3 Duratect is CITIZEN’s proprietary surface hardening technology that enhances the surface hardness of metals such as stainless steel and titanium, protecting watch bodies from scratches and damage. This technology offers excellent abrasion quality and maintains the luster of titanium, protecting watch bodies from scratches and damage. Duratect Titanium Carbide technology is used for a wide range of applications and CITIZEN’s Duratect Titanium Carbide achieves Vickers hardness of1,000-1,200HV. (Vickers hardness of stainless steel is approx. 200 HV). Duratect DLC achieves Vickers hardness of 1,000-1,400 by creating an amorphous carbon hard film—mainly composed of carbon and hydrogen—on the surface of the material.
*4 Eco-Drive is CITIZEN’s proprietary technology that powers watches using any natural or artificial light source, eliminating the need to replace batteries. Certified as an Eco Mark product for the first time in the watch industry.
*5 GPS satellite-synchronized watch captures the date and time signals sent by GPS satellites from space — orbiting 20,000 kilometers above the Earth — bringing ultra-precise timekeeping to wherever people are on the face of the globe.
